Snow squall warning issued by National Weather Service Boise

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Boise has issued a Snow Squall Warning for the Treasure Valley.

BOISE, Idaho — The National Weather Service (NWS) in Boise has issued a Snow Squall Warning for the Treasure Valley.

The warning is in effect until 8:30pm Dec. 24 for Ada County, Payette County, Canyon County, and Gem County.

Poor visibility, heavy and blowing snow is expected, along with wind gusts from 30 to 50 mph.

People are encouraged to reduce driving speeds and to turn on their headlights.

According to NWS, a snow squall is an intense short-lived burst of heavy snowfall that leads to a quick reduction in visibility with white-out conditions and is accompanied by heavy and gusty winds.
