Police continue to search for vehicle linked to 1994 disappearance of Boise woman

On Oct. 14, 1994, 17-year-old Krystyn Dunlap-Bosse disappeared after telling people she need to "get away."

BOISE, Idaho — Officials continue to look for a grey Camaro that could be connected to the disappearance of Krystyn Dunlap-Bosse, a Boise woman who was reported missing in 1994.

On May 17, 2024, Boise Police Detective Chuck Roath appeared on the podcast based out of Minnesota, "Lost & Found Muscle Cars," which helps people find long-lost cars like this one.

During the 18-minute video titled "HAVE YOU SEEN THIS CAMARO?! Help Police solve 30-year-old COLD CASE CRIME," Detective Roath answered questions regarding the 1989 Camaro RS.

Boise PD first released information on the vehicle in October 2023 -  less than a month after her family members, police and the community conducted a ground search near Pleasant Valley Road to look for her remains.

Dunlap-Bosse was 17 years old when she disappeared on Oct. 14, 1994, after telling people she needed to "get away."

The Camaro's last known location was Sun Valley, Nevada, roughly 20 years ago. A Boise PD news release previously said detectives have tracked the vehicle as it has been sold and given away "multiple times" since the year of Dunlap-Bosse's disappearance.

“Even though it’s been decades, we have reason to believe that this Z28 Camaro could be the evidence we need to help solve what happened to Krystyn and find justice for her and her family,” Boise Police Sgt. Justin Kendall said. “We are looking for any information that will help us figure out what happened to this vehicle and where it might be now.”

“We are asking people to spread the word that we are looking for this car.  If you have a friend or neighbor with an old Camaro on their property, ask about it," Kendall said. “Please check old salvage yards, hobby/part shops, etc. It’s possible that as of about 2000, it was no longer running and was being used as a parts car, potentially ending up in the amateur car racing/car building circuit.  We know it’s a long shot, but we would really like to find this car.”

Bosse's family told KTVB Wednesday, they hope the cars information will reach people outside of Boise, so police can get the evidence they need.

"We are hopeful we can get a hold of this car so we can truly start healing, because this is way too long to suffer," mother of Krystyn, Kimberly Bosse told KTVB.

Crime Stoppers of Southwest Idaho is offering a reward up to $1,000 for any tips leading to an arrest in the investigation. To contact Crime Stoppers, call 208-343-COPS (2677), visit www.343COPS.com, or use the mobile app "P3 Tips" to leave a tip.

The family of Krystyn Dunlap-Bosse looked for evidence in the desert south of Boise, continuing a nearly three-decade long search.
