LA GRANDE, Ore. — Westbound Interstate 84 in eastern Oregon was reopened early Friday morning after a crash led to a hazardous materials spill on the roadway.

The crash happened nine miles east of Pendleton Thursday morning, leading to a closure at Baker City. Westbound trucks were directed off the highway in Ontario at Exit 374 due to limited truck parking in Baker City.

Thursday afternoon, the Oregon Dept. of Transportation said westbound I-84 could remain closed through Thursday night.

Crews worked to clean up the spill and clear the crash. ODOT said material needs to be transferred to an appropriate tanker truck.

"Clean-up crews will continue to work at crash site throughout today. Drive with extra caution along the route and expect possible lane restrictions near crash site," ODOT wrote in a release.

The eastbound lanes of I-84 are also open.
