Coroner identifies victim on 'domestic shooting' in Caldwell on Wednesday

Felix Santiago-Torres was charged with first-degree murder after allegedly shooting 21-year-old Danny Borges Santiago, according to police.

CALDWELL, Idaho — Caldwell police are investigating the homicide of a 21-year-old man in Caldwell Wednesday morning, which they say was related to a "domestic disturbance."

Felix Santiago-Torres, 33, is charged with first-degree murder and was booked into Canyon County Jail after police responded to the 12000 block of Trinidad Street at 5:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to Caldwell Police Department (CPD).

At roughly 6:41 a.m. the victim was pronounced dead at Saint Alphonsus Hospital in Boise. The victim was identified by the Ada County Coroner as 21-year-old Danny Borges Santiago. Life saving measures were performed, according to a news release, but the efforts did not work.

When CPD arrived at the home, officers said one man was found with gunshot wounds and the suspect, later identified as Santiago-Torres, had left the scene.

After the shooting, Santiago-Torres drove to the Nampa Police Department (NPD) and turned himself in, according to police. He was then detained without incident by NPD and later transported to CPD.

"I am saddened about this senseless act of violence that resulted in a young man being murdered. My condolences are with the family during this difficult time, and I am sure that justice will be served," said Rex Ingram, Caldwell Chief of Police.

Police said the shooting death was an isolated incident.
