Sheriff's office announces procession route for fallen deputy's memorial service

Deputy Tobin Bolter was shot and killed in the line of duty during a traffic stop in Boise. The procession is Tuesday.

BOISE, Idaho — A procession of law enforcement leading to a memorial service for Ada County Deputy Tobin Bolter is planned for Tuesday, April 30 in Nampa.

The Ada County Sheriff's Office (ACSO) announced the route for the procession Friday afternoon.

It will start in Eagle near the intersection of Highway 55 and State Street around 12:30 p.m. before heading west to Star, then south to the Idaho Center in Nampa.

Tuesday's indoor service at the Idaho Center is closed to the general public and media. It's reserved for Bolter's family, friends and the law enforcement community. The Ada County Sheriff's Office said the public is invited to watch its live stream of the service in the Ford Idaho Center's outdoor amphitheater or online.

KTVB Channel 7 plans to stream Deputy Bolter's service at 3 p.m. Tuesday on KTVB.COM, KTVB+ on Roku, Apple TV and Amazon Fire TV, the KTVB YouTube channel and the KTVB mobile app.

Here's the route announced by the sheriff's office:

  • The procession will begin near Highway 55 and State St. in Eagle
  • The procession will travel west on State St. to Star Rd.
  • The procession will turn south on Star Rd.
  • The procession will travel south on Star Rd. to Chinden/Hwy 20-26
  • The procession will turn west on Chinden/20-26 to Can Ada Rd.
  • The procession will travel south on Can-Ada Rd. to Franklin Rd.
  • The procession will turn east on Franklin Rd.
  • The procession will travel east on Franklin Rd. to the entrance of the Ford Idaho Center.

The sheriff's office said drivers should expect congestion and delays in the area of the procession.

The public is encouraged to show their support by safely standing along the procession route, but the sheriff's office said to avoid the section of Star Road between Joplin Road and Chinden Road due to safety issues.

The 27-year-old deputy died Sunday after he was shot during a traffic stop Saturday night in Boise. Several organizations, law enforcement agencies and community members have honored Bolter with local candlelight vigils, memorials and fundraisers since his passing.

ACSO said it anticipates "hundreds and hundreds of marked units from all over" to participate in the procession.

The community is encouraged to line the procession route Tuesday in support of the young deputy and his family.
