Boise Police Department using social media to teach about scams

Detective Brad Thorne will answer questions via social media about scams and how to avoid being a victim.

BOISE, Idaho — The Boise Police Department's Detective Brad Thorne is hosting a scam session where he will answer questions in real time about scams and how to avoid them.

"As a financial crimes detective for more than 15 years, Det. Thorne has heard from thousands of victims and would-be victims of scams. He understands the methods scammers use, the red flags that are often missed, and the fear and shame that victims may feel. He also shares tips on how you can talk to vulnerable family and friends about avoiding scams and what to do if they fall victim," the department posted on social media.

The session is Wednesday, Mar. 20 on the Boise Police Department Facebook and Instagram stories at 2 p.m.
