BOISE, Idaho — According to GasBuddy, Boise has seen a three cent drop in fuel prices this week.

The new average price for a gallon of gas in the Boise area is now $3.94, which is 25 cents higher than a month ago and 15 cents higher than a year ago.

GasBuddy surveys over 216 gas stations in the Treasure Valley to identify the best prices. The cheapest station in Boise was priced at $3.79 per gallon on Sunday, while the most expensive was priced at $4.07 per gallon, a difference of 28 cents.

As for the Gem State, the lowest priced station was $2.99 per gallon, where the most expensive was priced at $4.74, a difference of $1.75.

Nationally speaking, the average price of a gallon of gas has dropped 2 cents in the last week, marking a new average price of $3.63 per gallon. That price is up 8 cents from a month ago and is up 4 cents from a year ago.

"With more confidence every day, it appears the spring top is in: average gas prices have started to cool off in many areas. For now, few Americans need to worry that gas prices are going to skyrocket; the risk appears to be behind us, with relief coming in the weeks ahead," said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. "While the latter half of the summer could potentially see hurricane-related issues, I do sense we've hit the top for now, and Americans should be optimistic that this summer will be very similar to last year, in line with our early 2024 expectations and likely not featuring record gasoline prices. I'm quite excited the seasonal rise in gas prices appears to be over."
