Zoo Boise opens gibbon exhibit this weekend

BOISE, Idaho — Just in time for Zoo Daze this Saturday, Zoo Boise says their new front plaza and gibbon exhibit will open to the public.

The gibbons' new home will feature indoor and outdoor areas for the apes to play and explore.

It's part of Zoo Boise's renovation and expansion, which is set to be complete later this summer.

You can check out the progress this Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. during Zoo Daze.

The new front plaza at Zoo Boise will be open to visitors on Saturday, June 8.

This year, the zoo is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the "Very Hungry Caterpillar."

Come get your picture taken with that Very Hungry Caterpillar, enjoy readings of the classic children's book, participate in caterpillar and butterfly inspired crafts and activities throughout the zoo.

The Butterflies in Bloom exhibit is also open and visitors on Saturday, June 8 will have the unique opportunity to feed the butterflies with special butterfly feeding sticks.
