BOISE, Idaho — Texas billionaire brothers are looking to sell tens of thousands of acres of land in Southwest Idaho.
The land sprawls across about 60,000 acres in Adams, Valley and Boise counties and is listed for $150 million. Dan and Farris Wilks started buying hundreds of thousands of acres across the Gem State around 2016.
Controversy sprouted around the billionaire brothers' land in 2018, when their company DF Development put up a set of gates and 'No Trespassing' signs at Boise Ridge Road, a Forest Service road in Boise County that leads to public lands. Road access was open to the public under the land's previous owners.
Now, the Wilks brothers are trying to sell some of their property, including the Boise County land that sparked the 2018 controversy.
An online listing shows more than 90 square-miles listed for sale in the Salmon River Mountain Range.
The property listing said the land has more than 65 miles of rivers and streams, and the land has historically been used for timber production. Much of the land was originally owned by Boise Cascade, who sold it in 2004. Ownership has changed hands a number of times since.
Land from the listing is across several areas, going from land along the Little Salmon River just north of New Meadows, to several plots around Idaho City.
About 160 miles of the property being sold borders land owned by the Forest Service, BLM or Idaho Department of Lands.
