Boise sees nearly 20 cent rise in gas prices in a week

Boise prices are 49 cents higher than a month ago, and are three cents higher than a year ago.

BOISE, Idaho — According to GasBuddy, Boise has seen a 20 cent increase in gas prices this week, marking a new average price of $3.69 per gallon. Boise prices are 49 cents higher than a month ago, and are 3 cents higher than a year ago.

According to GasBuddy's survey of over 216 stations in the Boise area, the cheapest station in Boise was priced at $3.57 per gallon on Easter Sunday, and the most expensive fuel station was priced at $3.99 per gallon.

As for the Gem State, the cheapest station on Sunday was priced at $3.21 per gallon, and the most expensive was priced at $4.01 per gallon, a difference of 80 cents.

AAA reports that the average price for a gallon of gas in the state was $3.53. This is 15 cents more than a week ago, 46 cents more than a month ago, and 12 cents more than a year ago.

Nationally, the average price of gas has remained unchanged in the past week, with an average price of $3.51 per gallon. The national average is 16 cents per gallon more than a month ago, and about one cent more than a year ago.

"No April Fools' joke: the national average price of gasoline has finally slowed a bit after four weeks of notable increases, stalling in the mid-$3.50s for the last week or two, while the average for diesel fell back below $4 per gallon—not a bad week for motorists as rising demand would normally put solid upward pressure on prices," said Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy. "For now, motorists have a bit of a reprieve from the constant big weekly price jumps. While we seem to be nearing a short-term peak, one word of caution for those in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast: you haven't yet finished the transition to summer gasoline, so you may experience some sticker shock in a few weeks. Be prepared for somewhat of a punch. For the rest of the nation, so long as we don't see extenuating circumstances, we're likely close to a top in prices. Let's hope it pans out and sticks!"
