Judge orders release of Tylee Ryan's body to her family

Tylee Ryan's mother, Lori Vallow Daybell, was convicted of murdering her and her little brother.

REXBURG, Idaho — The body of Tylee Ryan will finally be released back to her family more than four years after her murder, an Idaho judge ruled Thursday.

In May 2023, Tylee's mother, Lori Vallow Daybell, was convicted of killing both Tylee Ryan and her 7-year-old brother JJ Vallow. JJ Vallow's body was returned to his grandparents in September of this year.

The children disappeared in September 2019 and were never reported missing by Lori Vallow Daybell. Both children were later found buried in the yard of the Rexburg, Idaho, home of Chad Daybell, Lori's husband.

Lori Vallow Daybell was sentenced to life in prison without parole for her part in the murders. Chad Daybell is still awaiting trial for his role in the murders. A judge ruled Wednesday that he could face the death penalty for charges of conspiracy to commit murder and first-degree murder in the children's deaths. He is also charged in the murder of his first wife, Tammy Daybell.

Aside from her conviction in Idaho, Lori Vallow Daybell faces two additional charges of conspiracy to commit murder in Maricopa County relating to the death of her former husband and the non-fatal shooting of another relative.
