BOISE, Idaho — Update: Power has been restored to thousands of people across the Treasure Valley, but Idaho Power crews are still working to get power back on for thousands of others.

About 11,000 people are without power after a major storm rolled through the Treasure Valley, according to Idaho Power's outage map.

The storm caused widespread damage, including a house fire that was possibly caused by lightning and uprooted trees, around the Treasure Valley.

The largest power outage is near 5th Street and Simplot Boulevard in Wilder, where about 5,300 people are without power. Idaho Power crews are on scene now and estimate that power will be restored at about 7 p.m. tonight.

In downtown Boise, about 2,600 people lost power between noon and 1 p.m. According to Idaho Power's outage map, power should be back on in the areas of downtown Boise between 3 and 4 p.m.

In Caldwell, power poles were knocked down because of the storm, which forced police to close down some roads for crews to fix the power poles.

"If you see something like this go around, don't try and drive over the lines are alive," Corporal Randy Pyell with the Caldwell Police Department said. "You can be injured if you try and get out of your car around the live lines, so make sure you follow the cones and the closed road signs and stuff like that."

According to one homeowner in Boise, a lightning strike caused their home to catch fire at about 12:15 p.m. Saturday. The house fire hospitalized one man and killed two dogs.
