Skyview High School thanks local veterans with a special assembly

Students and faculty at Nampa's Skyview High School came together Friday to honor local veterans.

Students at Skyview High School gathered Friday to honor veterans from the community with songs and displays that paid tribute to their service.

A group of students setup the traditional "missing man table" as a tribute to the service men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.

Students also heard from veterans about their personal stories and what makes Veterans Day important to them.

Skyview senior Hailey Cooper worked to organize the special assembly. She says it's important that students always remember to honor our veterans.

"My favorite part is afterwards when we have refreshments and we talk to all the veterans that gave up their time to be here and we get to know them and their stories," said Cooper.

The assembly also featured a fife and drum duo playing "Amazing Grace" while students and veterans remembered friends and family that have served in the U.S. military.
