PARMA, Idaho — The Patricia Romanko Public Library in Parma closed its doors Tuesday, in what appears to be a result of the library's move to become a district library rather than a public library.
Library staff posted a flyer announcing that the library will be closed until further notice, effective April 30, "due to personnel issues," as Parma City Council seeks to appoint a new Library Board of Trustees.
A later post on the library's social media page read that the closure is expected to be temporary.
However, in the meantime, the Patricia Romanko Public Library asks that patrons return borrowed library materials by Thursday, May 9, via the book-drop located on the left side of the front entrance.
Although library services are suspended, Libby services are expected to continue as normal, the post read; adding that future activities and programs, such as Paint-A-Masterpiece, Summer Reading program and Summer STEM are to be decided on a later date.
According to the library, the city council anticipates board members will be selected by June 11. Upon appointment, the library will undergo a reformation, in which trustees will revise the library's policy, review/modify the library budget and hire and train new staff members.
