Date set for Mountain Home mayoral runoff election

With no clear winner, the runoff election is set for Dec. 5.

BOISE, Idaho — After the Nov. 7 elections, Mountain Home residents made their voices heard, but it ended with no clear winner due to no candidate receiving 50% of the vote. The runoff election is set for Dec. 5.

As KTVB reported, unofficial election results show incumbent Rich Sykes received 42% of the vote and the runner-up Misty Pierce received 36%. Votes will be canvassed in the following weeks.

According to the Elmore County Elections Office, on election day, there will only be one central polling location for precincts one through nine. All Mountain Home voters will need to visit the polling location at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at 1150 North 8th E.

The news release said absentee ballots will be automatically sent out for voters who previously requested them this election cycle. Absentee ballots must be returned to the Elections Department before Dec. 5 before 8 p.m. In-person absentee voting starts Nov. 20 to Dec. 1 at the Elmore County Courthouse.

To request an absentee ballot visit the Elmore County Elections Department at voteIdaho.gov.
