1 dead after crash on Highway 55

At 12:26 p.m., Boise County deputies received a 911 call of a vehicle in the water.

BOISE, Idaho — The Boise County Sheriff's Office confirmed one person is dead after a crash on State Highway 55 Friday afternoon near North Fork Payette River between Horseshoe Bend and Banks.

According to the office, they received a 911 call at 12:56 p.m. of a vehicle crashed into the river on the highway. Deputies arrived at the area of the crash and stated, "An occupant was pronounced dead at the scene."

The Idaho Transportation Department (ITD) stated the crash happened on SH-55 near Milepost 73.

The sheriff's office stated the name of the driver would be released after their family had been notified. 

Lanes were temporarily closed but both lanes are now open, but drivers should expect delays.

Boise County deputies are investigating the cause of the crash.
