BOISE, Idaho — A lawsuit filed by the former Office of Police Accountability Director, Jesus Jara against the city of Boise has been settled. According to a news release from the city, the parties had court-ordered mediation after a significant amount of litigation.
"During mediation, Intact Insurance, the city's insurance provider in this matter, exercised its rights under the policy, and settled the case, based on the potential for significant attorney fees to be awarded against the City," the release stated.
Jara had sued the city in 2022 after he alleged the city interfered with the investigation into former Boise Police chief Ryan Lee and then retaliated against Jara for recommending Lee be placed on leave.
The release stated that Jara, "sought damages for alleged retaliatory action, including termination of his employment in violation of Idaho's Protection of Public Employees Act (IPPEA)."
