BOISE, Idaho — A Washington state man is behind bars after police say he pointed a gun at other people during a fight in downtown Boise Saturday night.

Joey Zayas, 24, faces felony charges of aggravated assault and grand theft.

According to Boise Police, officers were called out to a report of a fight at 11th and Main streets at about 11:50 p.m. When they arrived, they learned that Zayas had aimed the gun towards two other people in a threatening manner.

Zayas had gotten into his vehicle with two other people and driven away prior to the officers' arrival, police say.

Police spotted the suspect's vehicle a short time later near 9th and River, and pulled him over. A K9 drug dog was brought out to the scene, and alerted on Zayas' vehicle.

A search of the vehicle turned up a small amount of marijuana and a gun, which matched the description of the earlier weapon and turned out to be stolen, according to investigators.

Zayas was arrested and booked into the Ada County Jail. He is due to appear in court Monday afternoon.
