'Choo-choo choose' to head to the Boise Depot birthday bash

The historic landmark is 99. Boise Parks and Rec is having a celebration on Sunday, admission is free.

BOISE, Idaho — The historic Boise Depot looks down on the city, a beacon of bygone times when it was operational. The building's unique style, and the grounds surrounding it, have ensured it remains an iconic building today. The Boise Depot is turning 99 years old, and Boise Parks and Recreation is having a celebration at the location.

"Situated on the rim at the south end of Capitol Boulevard, the panoramic view from the Depot patio is a stunning glimpse of the city skyline and the foothills. In the evening, the 96-foot bell tower is bathed in floodlights and is seen throughout the city," the Boise City website states.

The party is on Sunday, April 14 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The event is all ages and free. The celebration boasts Depot tours, model trains, face painting and more.
