Winter weather advisory issued in Idaho, Oregon counties

The advisory goes into effect on Sunday afternoon and will be in place until Monday morning.

BOISE, Idaho — A winter weather advisory has been issued in 11 Idaho counties and one Oregon county. The advisory will go into effect at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 13, and will remain in place until 5 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 14.

After a brief break Tuesday, with patchy night and morning fog both Monday and Tuesday and most of the accumulated Valley snowfall melting, more snow showers will return Tuesday night and Wednesday, with occasional rain/snow on into next weekend, but with little additional accumulation in the Treasure Valley.  

One to three inches of snow is expected to accumulate over the listed counties. As much as six to 10 inches is expected to fall over the Owyhee Mountains.

These Idaho counties should prepare for winter weather conditions:

  • Ada
  • Adams 
  • Canyon
  • Elmore
  • Gem
  • Gooding
  • Jerome
  • Owyhee
  • Payette
  • Twin Falls
  • Washington

Malheur County, Ore. is also included in the weather advisory.

Residents should prepare for slippery road conditions and slightly difficult travel due to snow-covered roads and reduced visibilities. Road conditions can be obtained by calling 511.
