October snow sprinkles southeast Boise on the coldest day of the season (so far)

The first snow of the season has snarled traffic in the Magic Valley and is dusting parts of Boise.

BOISE, Idaho — Light snow was falling in southeast Boise Tuesday morning amid unusually cold and wintry weather.

Traffic cameras showed light snow accumulating on the road near Federal Way and Gowen Road.

Heavier snow was falling in Southern Idaho on Tuesday morning, creating dangerous wintry traffic conditions and causing several crashes.

KTVB crews captured snow falling at the Simplot Sports Complex.

There were also significant flakes falling at the Boise Airport. 

Many shared similar images on Twitter. 

Wind made Tuesday mornings temperatures feel extra chilly, according to the National Weather Service.

Daytime highs for Tuesday were forecast to be 20-25 degrees colder than normal.

Northern Idaho and eastern Washington were also seeing similarly unusually cold temperatures on Tuesday morning, including Spokane's third day of snow this season.
