Tevin Griffey, son of MLB star Ken Griffey Jr., transfers to Boise State

Former Florida A&M defensive back Tevin Griffey will immediately enroll at Boise State and participate in spring ball. He joins the Broncos as a preferred walk-on.

BOISE, Idaho — Boise State head coach Spencer Danielson continues to impress in his first offseason in the driver's seat. Danielson on Thursday announced the addition of former Florida A&M defensive back Tevin Griffey, the Broncos' sixth transfer.

Griffey, the son of 22-year MLB great Ken Griffey Jr., will immediately enroll and start classes at Boise State this week. He is a preferred walk-on for the Broncos and will participate in spring ball.

During his four years at Florida A&M, Griffey posted 24 tackles, a blocked kick and an interception returned for a touchdown in 23 appearances.

Griffey comes to the City of Trees with two years of eligibility remaining, including his possible COVID year. The 5-foot-11, 175-pound DB from Orlando attended Dr. Phillips High School before Florida A&M.

As many know, his father starred for the Seattle Mariners, Cincinnati Reds and Chicago White Sox, while his grandfather – Ken Griffey Sr. – played for the Reds, Yankees, Braves and Mariners during his 22 years in Major League Baseball. Griffey's older brother, Trey, played football at Arizona.
