BOISE, Idaho — Three classifications saw a new team enter the rankings for the first time this season in the latest Idaho high school girls basketball state media poll, released Thursday.

Despite finishing the regular season with its 14th-straight win, Boise remains just behind 5A leader Lake City, who beat the Brave to open the season back in November. Both squads are 19-1, with Lake City's lone loss coming to Rocky Mountain.

No. 4 Sugar-Salem debuted in the 3A rankings Thursday after handing No. 1 Teton its first loss. The Diggers picked up two other top-five wins this week, defeating No. 3 Snake River and No. 5 South Fremont.

Melba and Mackay also entered the state media poll, sitting at No. 5 in the 2A and 1A DII rankings respectively. Others trending up this week include Middleton, Cole Valley Christian, Bear Lake, Richfield and Grace – who took sole possession of the 1A DI top spot after last week's tie with Lapwai.
