Charlie Sheen rejects ex-fiancee claims of threats in court filing

The nasty legal dispute between Charlie Sheen and his ex-fiancé advanced another increment Tuesday when the actor asked a judge to reject Scottine Rossi's attempt to extend a temporary restraining order against him.

Sheen's lawyer, Marty Singer, the feared entertainment attorney who most recently represented Bill Cosby, wrote in a court filing that Rossi's TRO matter is merely a "publicity stunt" designed to keep her civil case against Sheen in the news, according to the Associated Press.

Rossi, an adult-film actress who performs under the name Brett Ross, is suing Sheen, claiming he failed to tell her he was HIV-positive during their relationship; the pair were engaged from November 2013 to October 2014.

Rossi is one of the women Sheen accused of "extorting" him for millions after they learned of his HIV-positive status in 2015. She claims he reneged on a $1 million settlement and also forced her to abort her baby because of fear the child would be HIV-positive, too. Her civil suit has gone to private arbitration.

Singer says Sheen has not had any contact with Rossi in a while.

"Charlie Sheen has had no contact or communication with (Rossi) for more than a year," Singer wrote in an opposition to the TRO extension. "He has no intention of contacting or communicating with (Rossi) in the future. Sheen wants nothing to do with (Rossi), yet she apparently cannot let go and insists upon remaining a nuisance in his life."

Rossi obtained a temporary restraining order earlier this month based on alleged threats Sheen made against her in a recording obtained by celebrity website RadarOnline. She also filed a police report, which led to an investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department's stalking unit.

The order, which could be extended at a hearing Thursday, requires Sheen to refrain from contacting her; to stay 100 yards from her, her home, workplace and car; and to turn in any guns he may own. The order also allows Rossi to record any conversations she has with Sheen.

One of Rossi's attorneys, David Ring, who represents her in the civil suit, said one judge had already issued a restraining order "so it's the furthest thing from a publicity stunt. But if that's the way he wants to spin it, it's predictable."

Sheen's filing says Rossi has shown no evidence the actor has threatened her and that she has not actually heard the recording RadarOnline says it obtained. All she knows, Singer wrote, is what she read in a tabloid story.

Earlier, Ring said he and his client had heard the tape and believed it was Sheen speaking, and that he was serious.

“(Rossi) takes it extremely seriously because she knows him and knows his personality and behavior," he said. "It’s not just his typical bluster. I heard (the tape) and it’s legitimate. I know the context, and there are things he said on the tape that only he would know because we were in settlement talks at the time (over the lawsuit).”

Meanwhile, RadarOnline has said it was served with a warrant seeking audio that is purportedly of Sheen threatening to bury Rossi. The website has said it believes the warrant is illegal.
