Teen killed near graduation party, toxicology reports pending

KUNA - An 17-year-old died early Sunday morning when he crashed a pickup truck in the desert south of Kuna. A family member says Clay Tully had just graduated from Meridian High School Saturday afternoon.

Two other teens were injured in the crash, which happened just before 5 a.m. east of Swan Falls Dam.

The Ada County Sheriff's Office says the teens were at graduation party in the desert nearby when they decided to go for a drive east of the intersection of Swan Falls and Moore roads. Tully was driving on a dirt road, when he apparently lost control of the pickup as it rounded a corner.

Tully and a passenger were thrown from the vehicle as it rolled. No one in the truck was wearing a seatbelt, officials said.

Tully died at the scene. A 15-year-old boy in the truck had serious injuries and was taken by air ambulance to hospital for treatment. Another passenger - A 16-year-old boy - was taken to a local hospital with what deputies call non-life threatening injuries.

Officials said Monday several beer cans were found at the crash site.

A spokesperson with the Ada County Sheriff's Office says they are still waiting on a toxicology report to determine if alcohol played a factor in the crash.

Investigators say there was a group of teens in another vehicle near the crash site and another group back at the party. Those teens were released to their parents.
