Seven Arrows Powwow

People experience Native American culture from tribes in the northwest and Canada.

BOISE, Idaho — The Seven Arrows Powwow is at Extra Mile Arena this year.

Grand Entry was at noon on Sunday. Grand Entry at a powwow is when an Elder leads dancers into the area, members of tribes hold flags and dance an opening dance.

"Showcasing the customs of Native Americans in full regalia, the Seven Arrows Powwow attracts participants from all over the northwest and Canada. The event is planned with the student organization Intertribal Native Council and the support of the community. Powwow also features demonstrations, storytelling, and craft vendors," the Boise State Equity Center webpage states.

The powwow has contests, vendors and dancing.

Seven Arrows Powwow Head Staff is; MC: Alec Bluff, Kalispel Tribe, Arena Director: Merlin Kickingwoman Sr., Blackfeet Tribe, Host Drum: Walking Buffalo, Saskatchewan, Canada, Head Man: Cailan Dann, Shoshone-Bannock Tribe and Head Woman: Nadina Delgado, Te-moak Tribe of Western Shoshone.

It's s co-sponsored by Boise State Student Equity Center, Intertribal Native Council, MLK Living Legacy Committee, Coca-Cola, Kessler Keener Foundation and HP.
