Idaho Fish & Game: Rainbow trout April stocking schedule

Idaho Department of Fish and Game will stock dozens of Magic Valley waters with nearly 65,000 catchable rainbow trout from April 1 through May 3.

IDAHO, USA — Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG) announced Wednesday it will be stocking dozens of bodies of water in the Magic Valley region with 64,825 rainbow trout between April 1 and May 3.

The catchable fish will be approximately 10 inches to 12 inches in length, according to IDFG.

Fish and Game said that the numbers of fish are approximate and that dates are subject to change if weather conditions do not permit anglers to perform the stocking.

IDFG provided the following schedule for the bodies of water and the approximate number of fish to be stocked:

  • Week of April 1 - April 5
    • Blair Trail Fishing Pond, 1,000 fish
    • Crystal Springs Lake, 600 fish
    • Dog Creek Reservoir, 2,000 fish
    • Filer Kids Pond & Filer Pond, 450 fish
    • Freedom Park Pond, 500 fish
    • Hagerman WMA Oster Lake #1, 600 fish
    • Hagerman WMA Riley Creek Pond, 600 fish
    • Magic Reservoir, 7,500 fish
    • Mormon Reservoir, 6,000 fish
    • Niagara Springs, 500 fish
    • Niagara Springs Wood Duck Pond, 100 fish
  • Week of April 8 - April 12
    • Dierkes Lake, 2,500 fish
    • Hagerman WMA Oster Lake #1, 600 fish
    • Hagerman WMA Riley Creek Pond, 600 fish
  • Week of April 15 - April 19
    • Filer Kids Pond & Filer Pond, 450 fish
    • Freedom Park Pond, 500 fish
    • Gavers Lagoon, 1,425 fish
    • Hagerman WMA Oster Lake #1, 600 fish
    • Hagerman WMA Oster Lake #2, 350 fish
    • Hagerman WMA Oster Lake #3, 350 fish
    • Hagerman WMA Oster Lake #4, 350 fish
    • Hagerman WMA Riley Creek Pond, 1,000 fish
    • Little Wood River, 650 fish
    • Rock Creek RV Park Pond, 125 fish
  • Week of April 22 - April 26 
    • Hagerman WMA Bass Pond #1, 475 fish
    • Hagerman WMA Oster Lake #1, 600 fish
    • Hagerman WMA Riley Creek Pond, 1,000 fish
    • Lower Goose Creek Reservoir, 10,000 fish
    • Penny Lake, 400 fish
    • Salmon Falls Creek Reservoir, 18,000 fish
    • Stone Reservoir, 2,000 fish
  • April 29 - May 3
    • Camas Pond #2 (Camas Kids Pond), 1,500 fish
    • Penny Lake, 500 fish
    • Richfield Canal, 1,000 fish

IDFG reminds anglers to obtain a fishing license before throwing a line. An annual fishing license is $30 for adults, $16 for junior licenses (ages 14-17) and free for children 14 and under.
