EMMETT - A man is dead after a house fire Thursday in Emmett.
Gem County officials said Emmett City Fire Department crews responded to a fire at a home in the 900 block of East Main Street.
Emmett City Fire Chief Curt Christensen said they responded within minutes, but the back of the home was in flames when firefighters arrived. They weren't able to rescue the home's resident.
The man who died was identified Friday as Eric Brockbank.
A dog that was found in the home was treated and is recovering, officials said.
The cause of the fire is being investigated, and officials said the name of the person who died will be released after family is notified.
