Old Chicago in downtown Boise feeds the homeless on Christmas day

Holiday meals were served to almost a thousand people.

A miracle on Idaho Street today.

In the spirit of giving, Old Chicago restaurant in downtown Boise aims to give back to all in need in our community.

They've done this every Christmas since 1996.

Old Chicago employees and more than 100 community volunteers provided holiday meals this morning to almost a thousand homeless and families in need in the Treasure Valley.

Old Chicago General Manager Brent Giroux says he couldn't imagine spending Christmas any other way.

"Christmas is really about giving more than receiving,” Giroux said. “Boise on Christmas downtown there is not a lot of restaurants even open, so we get a lot of people just randomly coming in and saying, ‘oh we didn't know it was this,’ and we still invite them in. People are just blown away from it. It's a great way for us to touch into our community."

Guests feasted on a classic Old Chicago meal that consisted of pizza, pasta, salad and garlic bread.

Santa even made a special appearance for the kids.
