IDAHO, USA — Love to be close to nature and want to spend some time away from it all? The Nez Perce-Clearwater National U.S. Forest Service is recruiting volunteers to be campground hosts for 2024.

"Have you ever wanted to live on the edge of a vast wilderness? Perhaps you've dreamed of waking up beside some of the best fishing holes in Idaho? Or maybe your goal is to make your home a short hike from some of the most beloved hot springs in the United States? If so, and you also are committed to public service, you probably should apply for one of the volunteer campground host opportunities now available on the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests," a news release from the U.S. Forest Service stated.

People have to work about 20 hours weekly from mid-May to mid-September. Hosts are required to have their own camp trailer or RV, have a driver's license, represent the Forest Service, wear a uniform, be First Aid and CPR certified and provide light maintenance work.

The department will review applications in March and select hosts by April. For more information, go to fs.usda.gov/nezperceclearwater. To learn about other volunteer opportunities at Forest Service areas statewide, go to fs.usda.gov/working-with-us/volunteers/opportunities.
