Caldwell man arrested for Garden City mail theft

Paul Symonds was arrested on three charges and is currently on parole for grand theft.

GARDEN CITY, Idaho — Garden City Police Department (GCPD) received a report on April 23 of an unknown suspect trying to use a credit card stolen from a mailbox. This was the second report of mail theft in the 9000 block of Duck Lake in Garden City within a week. 

On April 24, police said the suspect attempted to used a credit card that was stolen out of a mailbox at a local store. GCPD reviewed store footage and matched vehicle description to identify Paul Symonds, 51, of Caldwell, as the suspect. 

Police contacted Symonds at his home and at that time they found more evidence that linked Symonds to the mail thefts in Garden City. Symonds is currently on parole for Grand Theft. 

Symonds was arrested on the following charges: 

  • Fraudulent use of a Financial Transaction Card Felony
  • Criminal Possession of a Financial Transaction Card or number Felony
  • Grand Theft Felony

GCPD reminds residents to carefully monitor your mail. If you're going out of town, place a hold on your mail delivery or have a neighbor pick it up for you.
