'So Ready for Laughter': Idaho State Museum hosts 'The Legacy of Bob Hope exhibit'

The exhibit will feature three performances with singing, dancing and comedic segments of Bob Hope's taken directly from his WWII wartime radio shows.

BOISE, Idaho — Idaho State Museum is celebrating its final week of its 'Legacy of Bob Hope' exhibit with three shows spanning three days, featuring live performances paying tribute to the late American entertainer and comedian Bob Hope.

The National WWII Museum's So Ready for Laughter: The Live Show will launch guests back in time with nostalgic performances with singing, dancing, and last but not least, some of Bob Hope's original comedy from his wartime radio and United Service Organization (USO) shows.

Intermountain USO and Idaho Veterans Chamber of Commerce partnered with the Idaho State Museum to host the tour which travels the country paying tribute to Bob Hope, an iconic entertainer well known for his performances for military service members, particularly during WWII.

The museum's exhibit and performances were personalized for Idahoans, with the three shows highlighting local actors, jazz musician Ellie Shaw and the Boise Belles. 

Bob Hope Exhibit showtimes: 

  • Wednesday, April 3 at 2 p.m. 
  • Friday, April 5 at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. 
  • Saturday, April 6 at 3 p.m. Doors open at 2 p.m. 

The live shows are recommended for ages 5 and up. Tickets cost $20 for adults, and $17 for active-duty military/veterans, ISHS members, senior citizens and children ages 5 through 17.

Veterans are eligible for free tickets on a first come, first served basis. Just contact Idaho Veterans Chamber of Commerce at admin@idahoveterans.org.
