BOISE — Another day, another report about DMV system issues around the state.

An ongoing problem that we were told would be worked out continues.

Driver's license services were down across Idaho Monday due to a multi-state outage by the vendor.

No word on when the system will be back up and running, but the Idaho Transportation Department says this outage is unrelated to the recent upgrades earlier this month.

DMVs around the state are staffed by employees hired by county sheriff's offices, but the software is provided by ITD.

This afternoon Ada County Sheriff Stephen Bartlett expressed his frustration at the problem in a blog post writing:

"It's been so bad that the Idaho Sheriff's Association sent a letter to Idaho Governor Butch Otter last week detailing how the sheriffs of Idaho's 44 counties are taking the brunt of complaints that should be directed towards the ITD."
