Mom Matters: Moms Need to Be Heard

Mom Matters on Idaho Today is a new series created by moms for moms as a safe place to share, collaborate and support one another.

Mom Matters on Idaho Today is a new series created by moms for moms as a safe place to share, collaborate and support one another. In our third episode, the panel answers the question: Are moms really being heard?

“I think of not just being heard, but also being understood,” says Natalee Allen, mom of four and KTVB Assistant News Director. “It’s making sure that someone else that maybe doesn’t have your same life hears you, understands you and empathizes with you. I think that’s what I long for in a community of moms and a community of working moms especially.”

Panelist Shannon McGuire, Founder of Supreme Moms, funded a Gallup poll focused specifically on Idaho moms. Host Mellisa Paul is utilizing this poll information for the initial segments of Mom Matters. This data will be available to the public on Mother’s Day, May 9th. (Watch Mom Matters on Wednesdays for more details.)

“I love, love my job at KTVB,” chuckles Allen. “But since I’m such a ‘boss mom,’ as people like to call me, I think they sometimes forget that mom part. I’ll get a call and they ask me to do something and I’m actually changing a diaper. My family also needs me – especially during my home time. It’s hard to create that boundary.”
