BRUNSWICK, Ga.— The body of the last of three missing boaters in Brunswick has been found, authorities tell First Coast News
One person was confirmed dead Wednesday night and another boater was injured. The four people were thrown from a boat after it capsized near the Sidney Lanier Bridge Wednesday, authorities said.
A body found Thursday morning has been identified as Rico Scott, 36. The person found Wednesday night has been identified as Michael Troup Senior. A third body, James (Jay Jay) Fuller, 34, was recovered late Thursday morning.
More than 20 boats searched the Turtle River near Jekyll Island well into the night and they resumed the search at daylight Thursday.
The boat was approximately a 14 foot fiberglass boat.
The injured boater, Marcus Collins, told rescuers that their boat began taking on water in rough conditions and capsized.
“With sea and wind conditions last night, you would have wanted a bigger boat." Georgia DNR Captain Bob Lynn said.
Lynn said the boat had life jackets in a front compartment, but only Collins was able to get one.
One person died after being pulled from the water and another was taken to a nearby hospital.
Family members say Fuller, 34, played football at Brunswick High School and Benedict College SC,
Family members say the group fishes in the area often but this was the first time they decided to take a boat out.
