Family Pet Expo in Boise brings out cats, dogs, and giant reptiles

Organizers say the event is a great place for pet owners and families to get out and enjoy the weekend.

BOISE, Idaho — The Family Pet Expo on Saturday in Boise saw cats and dogs on display with exotic pets, like giant reptiles and minipigs.

The 14th annual event at Expo Idaho lets pet owners bring their furry and scaly friends to check out pet products, see different exhibits, and compete in a photo contest.

Local expert biologist Corbin Maxey, who is a regular guest on NBC's Today Show, also stopped by with a 13-foot yellow python.

"It makes me feel great I just wish people would keep their small dogs away, for obvious reasons, I have to tell people its a beautiful chihuahua," he said. "It's great connecting with people here."

Organizers say the event is a great place for pet owners and families to get out and enjoy the weekend.

"it's so much fun to see the public come out, have a place where they can bring their pets, socialize, meet other pet owners," Anna Marie Aldinger, one of the event's organizer, said. "Its really just a cool event for families to come and enjoy for the day."
