Downtown Boise parking changes start Thursday

Metered parking rates are going up in several areas of the city.

Parking changes in downtown Boise start on Thursday.

Starting February first, metered parking for Zones 1 and 2 will be enforced from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday. And on Saturdays enforcement will go from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

No changes are coming to Zone 3, which are farther away from the heart of downtown.

Metered parking rates are also going up. You will still get your first 20 minutes free, but in Zone 1, you will now pay $2 for the first hour, $3 for the second hour, for a maximum of two hours.

In Zone 2, you will now pay $1.25 for the first hour, and $2 for the second hour for a maximum of two hours.

Zone 3 will not change.

And on Saturdays, you will now have to pay 50 cents an hour in Zones 1 and 2 for a maximum of two hours.
