BOISE, Idaho — Heavy rain in the valley over the weekend created a lot of flooding. On Saturday, April 6, one driver got stuck trying to drive through a flooded parking lot. According to Boise Fire Department (BFD), no one was hurt but the department wants to remind people to avoid driving through flooded areas.

The driver, and one passenger, got stuck in floodwater near Maple Grove Rd. and Emerald St. BFD stated that when the driver attempted to get through the lot, the car got stuck in a ditch. The department said that crews were able to get the people out of the car with the help of bystanders and then winched the car out.

"It’s a great reminder that heavy rains can lead to dangerous encounters with submerged obstructions. Whether you’re in a parking lot or on a road, do not cross floodwater. Find another route," stated BFD in a social media post.
