Crash sends Fruitland Police officer and suspect to the hospital

The officer and the man were in a patrol car on the side of US-95 when it was rear-ended by a pickup.

FRUITLAND, Idaho — A Fruitland Police officer and a 27-year-old suspect from Meridian that was in the back of the patrol car on the side of US-95 were rear-ended by a pickup truck and taken to the hospital.

According to Idaho State Police (ISP), the officer and man were in the car with lights activated around 9 p.m. on Friday April 19 when it was rear-ended by a 71-year-old man from New Plymouth driving a 2007 Toyota pickup.

ISP stated the 27-year-old was taken to the hospital by an air ambulance and the officer was taken via ground ambulance. The driver of the pickup was not injured.

Traffic was blocked for one-and-a-half hours and ISP is investigating the crash.
