MERIDIAN, Idaho — The City of Meridian is seeking residents interested in serving on City Commission or City Committee.

The vacancies sought to be filled are Planning and Zoning Commission and Solid Waste Advisory Committee. Applications are open. The application deadline is December 15.

For those interested in Planning and Zoning, Meridian is seeking a resident who is interested in the subject. The commission serves as an advisory role to the Meridian City Council in matters relating to land use, zoning, transportation and housing issues as framed by Meridian's Comprehensive Plan and provides final action on discretionary permits," according to City of Meridian officials.

To be eligible for the role, the applicant must live in the City of Meridian for two years, or in the City's "Area of Impact" for at least one year. Commissioners are required to live within their residential area for the duration of their service term.

The Planning and Zoning Commission holds meetings on the first and third Thursday of every month at 6 p.m. at Meridian City Hall.

The Solid Waste Advisory Commission is also seeking applicants. The Solid Waste Advisory Committee advises the Mayor and Meridian City Council on issues related to solid waste management and the recycling program. For industry experts applying, they are not required to reside in Meridian. However, all other applicants must be Meridian residents, said a news release from Meridian officials.

The Solid Waste Advisory Commission meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of every month at 4 p.m. at Meridian City Hall.

Applications close on December 15. Those can be submitted online or mailed to Mayor Simison's office at Meridian City Hall.
