Boise sees 7 cent dip in gas prices

This is the 13th week in a row that gas prices dropped, will the trend continue?

BOISE, Idaho — For the 13th straight week, Boise has seen a dip in gas prices, marking the new average price at $3.27 per gallon on Monday, according to GasBuddy

Prices in Boise are roughly 33 cents less than a month ago, and stand at a quarter lower than a year ago, according to the GasBuddy survey of 216 stations.

The cheapest gas in Boise was priced at $3.02 per gallon on Sunday, while the most expensive was $4.09 per gallon, which is a difference of $1.07 per gallon.

As for the Gem State, the lowest price was $2.59 per gallon and the highest was $4.09 per gallon, a difference of $1.50 per gallon.

Nationally, the average price at gasoline has risen roughly 3 cents per gallon in the last week, marking the new average at $3.07 per gallon on Monday. The price is still down almost 14 cents per gallon from last month, and nearly 2 cents per gallon more than a year ago, according to GasBuddy.

"After 13 straight weeks of decline, average gasoline prices have edged higher due to optimistic comments from the Fed on cutting interest rates in 2024, coupled with Houthi attacks on vessels in the Red Sea, boosting concerns of a disruption to global shipping, including oil shipments," Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy said.

"For now, the price of gasoline has already jumped, but could ease slightly this week ahead of the New Year. For now, I'm optimistic that we may still have a chance of seeing the first $2.99 national average since 2021 sometime before spring arrives," De Haan continued.
