WEISER -- The body of a missing Fruitland man has been found near Weiser, nine months to the day after he disappeared.

The remains of Scott Gross, 41, were discovered April 24 near the Weiser River Trail, about 15 miles east of Weiser, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office. A person on a float trip spotted the body about six miles north of the Presley Bridge and alerted authorities.

The Ada County coroner was able to identify Gross through his dental records.

Gross went missing July 24, 2017, after riding an ATV away from his father's house. His ATV was later found near New Plymouth, but searchers could not locate the rider.

Gross' sister, Sandie Dickinson, said he will be deeply missed.

"Our family wanted you to know our brother was a wonderful person and very loved," she said in a message.

A cause of death has not been released, but investigators do not suspect foul play, according to the sheriff's office.
