BBB gives 'F' grade to local parking enforcement company

A series of complaints against Kase Parking Enforcement has landed the business in hot water with the BBB.

BOISE — A local parking enforcement company is in hot water with the Better Business Bureau after a series of complaints.

People are alleging Kase Parking Enforcement is booting their cars unfairly and that employees are aggressive.

The BBB has now issued Kase an "F" rating.

"We have 12 complaints that the company has not responded to and in those 12 complaints we see this consistent pattern that the company is aggressive, they don't provide evidence, this is what we are hearing from the customers," says Dale Dixon with the Better Business Bureau.

One of the complaints is from Harold Dixon who says his son's car was booted outside a Meridian apartment complex.

"He parked in a place that he was fairly sure was visitor parking, there were a couple of signs in the area that say visitor parking, so he parked in one of the empty spots and then his car got booted," says Wilson.

Wilson admits while he saw a sign he couldn't tell which parking spaces were designated for permit parking.

"Well if you are just reading the sign in a normal way you think that permit parking is where it's numbered, covered, or clearly marked," says Wilson.

"He saw a sign that said visitor parking, that's where a visitor would park, everything else that doesn't have a sign would be permit parking," says the owner of Kase Parking Enforcement, who wished to have his name withheld.

The owner says he's complying with state and city code despite complaints like Wilson's.

"To me, it’s almost like a scam or a setup. People are being coerced out of their money, these boots are being put on in places where it looks like its visitor parking and made to pay the $100 so you can go," says Wilson.

Part of BBB's "F" grade against Kase is their alleged lack of response to complaints and the BBB.

"The idea is the business has to be willing to come to the table and have the conversation and we have repeatedly asked Kase to come to the table and have that conversation with its customers and Kase is not responding to us," says Dixon.

"That's absolutely not true I have talked to them several times," says the owner.
