POLLOCK, Idaho — Two hotshot firefighters were injured Sunday night while working the Rattlesnake Creek Fire near Pollock, fire managers said Monday.
Two crew members from the Navajo Interagency Hotshot Crew - an experienced hand crew trained to work in steep, rugged terrain - were injured by a burning snag while conducting fire suppression activities at the fire. It has burned about 4,700 acres in the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests and is 42 percent contained.
Both firefighters were transported to a hospital in McCall and were treated and released. One was released to go home, and the other will be taken to a Salt Lake City burn facility for additional care.
Officials are sending thoughts for a speedy and safe recovery to the firefighters and thanked the local community for continued support of the firefighters who remain engaged in managing the fire.
