1 hospitalized after officer-involved shooting in Rexburg

The incident marks the third police shooting in Idaho in just five days.

One person was taken to the hospital after being shot by police in Rexburg.

REXBURG, Idaho — One person was taken to the hospital early Tuesday morning after being shot by police in Rexburg.

The incident happened just before 1 a.m. near 2nd North and 2nd West. Police have not released what led up to the shooting, or how many officers fired their weapons. 

The person, who has not been identified, suffered a single gunshot wound. He or she was taken to a local hospital for treatment, but the wound is not believed to be life-threatening.

The shooting came just two days after an officer-involved shooting in Boise that killed a 33-year-old Caldwell woman. A man died in another officer-involved shooting in Idaho Falls Friday

It's unclear whether the person shot in Rexburg was armed. The incident is under investigation by the East Idaho Critical Task Force.
