Leighton Vander Esch headed to NFL Draft

BOISE -- In less than three weeks, the 2018 NFL Draft will take place in Dallas and the Boise State football program will have an alumnus in attendance.

According to NFL.com, Bronco linebacker Leighton Vander Esch has accepted an invitation to attend the NFL Draft.

Leighton is one of just 22 players that will be in attendance and one of just four Group of 5 players that will be going.

"I'm just trying to be the best linebacker in the nation right now," Vander Esch said during his Pro Day workout. "That's my biggest goal. I want to be the best linebacker in the NFL one day too. I take pride in competing with myself and everyone around me and I always want to be the best I can possibly be, and that's just who I am."

Ryan Clady remains the top overall draft pick in school history, going 12th overall to the Denver Broncos in 2008.

Boise State has four all-time first-round draft picks. However, the Broncos haven't had one since both Doug Martin and Shea McClellin were selected in Round 1 in 2012.
