MERIDIAN - A longtime West Ada School District employee has been charged with one count of sexual exploitation of a child.

West Ada spokesman Eric Exline confirmed Wednesday that the man named in an Attorney General's news release earlier in the day - 55-year-old Charles V. Gonzales of Nampa - was the worker who was arrested.

The AG's Office said Gonzales was arrested Wednesday and booked into the Canyon County Jail after investigators obtained a search warrant for Gonzales's Nampa residence and executed the warrant that morning.

Nampa and Caldwell police, along with the Canyon County Prosecutor's Office, assisted in the investigation.

Exline said Gonzales - who has worked for the district for 14 years - was a technical maintenance worker who maintains equipment such as computers, iPads and printers.

Gonzales covered Sawtooth Middle School and Prospect and Hunter elementary schools.

In a letter to parents, Exline said Gonzales didn't work with students. Exline told KTVB Wednesday night that Gonzales fixed the devices in the company of other adults, such as teachers and administrators.

In the letter, Exline also told parents that the information the district had was that the allegations were not related to work. He told us that he wasn't aware of any issues with Gonzales during his time with the district.

Anyone with information regarding the exploitation of children is encouraged to contact local police, the Attorney General's ICAC Unit at 208-334-4527, or the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at 1-800-843-5678.
