GARDEN CITY -- A Garden City man was arrested Thursday afternoon after police say he attacked his roommate with a pair of brass knuckles.

Kody Sumpter, 26, is facing charges of felony aggravated battery and misdemeanor disturbing the peace.

The incident happened at about 2:30 p.m. at a home in the 8300 block of Chinden Boulevard. The 26-year-old victim told police that he and Sumpter had been arguing inside the house when the suspect hit him with brass knuckles.

The victim ran out of the house and went to a nearby restaurant, where he met with police. Officers say the injured man had cuts on his head and his hand. He was taken to a local hospital by ambulance for treatment.

The man's injuries are not life-threatening, police say.

Officers went to the house to find Sumpter, but discovered he had already left. Police kept searching for him, ultimately pulling him over in a traffic stop several hours later near Coffey and Chinden.

The suspect was taken into custody and booked into the Ada County Jail. He is due to appear in court Friday afternoon.

If convicted of aggravated battery, Sumpter could face up to 15 years in prison.
