NAMPA, Idaho — A Nampa man is facing charges after investigators say he was training roosters for cockfighting, "mutilating" the birds in the process.

Carlos Angel, 23, was taken into custody by the Canyon County Sheriff's Office Thursday. He is charged with 10 misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty.

Investigators say they had received information about multiple illegal cockfights happening throughout Canyon County and the surrounding area. Angel was training roosters for the fights, according to the sheriff's office.
