Meridian woman sentenced for first-degree murder of 2-month-old son

28-year-old Danielle Radue was sentenced to at least 18 years of prison for the murder of her son in 2020.

MERIDIAN, Idaho —

On Friday, 28-year-old Danielle Radue of Meridian was sentenced to prison for the first-degree murder of her two-month-old son.

In May 2020, Meridian Police responded to Radue's home for an unresponsive infant. At the hospital, the infant was found to have suffered severe injuries, including a skull fracture and injury to his brain. Dawson died in the hospital days later.

"Failure to take responsibility is a major concern here for the court," said Judge Miller during the defendant's sentencing. "We want to set a very high standard for parents and for people taking care of children."

Ada County District Judge Patrick Miller sentenced Radue to up to life imprisonment with eligibility for parole after 18 years.

"I extend my sincere and deepest condolences to Dawson's loved ones who suffered a devastating loss," said Ada County Prosecutor Jan Bennetts. "My team and I take these cases very seriously. I am grateful for the Meridian Police Department's thorough investigation on this case."
